Wise Men Pray, Only Fools Rush In

At age 21 and with no experience, Solomon is crowned King of Israel.  In today’s world Solomon would have to be college educated, serve in a government position and win several debates to prove himself capable of leading a nation. Solomon’s resume wouldn’t even get him to the primary’s.

But where human eyes see inadequacies, God sees potential.

Rodin's "The Thinker" as photgraphed by mharrsch on flickr.comDeep calling to Deep – Solomon desired wisdom more than anything because he knew, that he would be a fool to try and lead a nation without God’s wisdom. The wisdom he chose that day shook the nation, shook the world, and is still shaking and changing lives today. We have all been affected by the wisdom God gave Solomon.

And now it is our day to choose.  What do you desire more than anything? If God said I would give you anything you want – what would you ask for?  What deep in you would call out to the Deep in God?   Oh by the way, Solomon gives you a little hint in Proverbs 10:8 (NIV) “The wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin.”   I think he is trying to tell us that wise men pray for wisdom and fools rush in and make bad decisions.

What area of your life do you find yourself needing wisdom, and what are you doing to find it?
